Yesterday was a perfectly sunny day. It is such a joy to walk along this quiet trail. I meet the occasional dog walker but not many people. There are salmon fishers out knee or waist- high in the calm waters of the strait. There are herons walking along at the edge, fishing too. Soon it will be time for the big silvery fish to head up Oyster River to their spawning grounds.

That’s the mainland of BC. I love that this is a rocky beach. It means that it’s quiet and few people come here.

They sometimes flap around but most of the time they are content to keep each other company at the mouth of the river as it flows into the Strait.

It reminds me of Red Riding Hood’s path. I’ve even written a sort of update of that young lady’s story set here on the Island.

I like this one with his little cubs peeking out below. This from my very long walk today!

who didn’t turn à hair when I came around the corner and caught her nibbling at some lady’s hydrangea bush.
As long as the weather holds I will keep walking. Tomorrow is an exception as I venture into town, by bus! There are Spanish lessons in the Comox Senior Centre that I have to check out!
