Yesterday was a lovely day and my daughter wanted a day out. She loves the trail along Hornby cliffs so we set off to catch the nine o’clock ferry to Denman Island ( interlocking ferries) the nine O’clock was full so we had to wait an hour outside à shop and coffee place that does a roaring trade in the season.

Shells from the sea food place nearby. We were chatting with some people who had a sweet pair of dogs and it turns out the gentleman had spent part of his childhood in Tonnipandy, im South Wales quite close to where I was brought up! Small world!

And had a lovely hike along the shore. Perfect temperature and a lovely sea breeze.

We were à bit worried about the ferries as it was clear a lot of people were enjoying one of the last weekends of the season.

In spite of à July that Elizabeth tells me was very wet, the grass was completely dried out.

In Vancouver Island and at the suggestion of a fellow traveller, Elizabeth called in fire number V71647 on the app she had on her phone. By the time we got home it had grown fourfold but was listed as controlled. The situation on the mainland of BC is dire but so far has not been bad on the Island.

We had a lovely day and ended it with supper at “Boonies” with the best pizza I have ever had! No really! If you’re ever around Comox or Courtney go there.

right in the middle of this picture? That was our day! There’s always lots of drift wood and logs on the coast around here. Think “ the Beachcombers”
