Honestly, this Park is saving my sanity these days. As some of you know I am waiting for a date for a surgery that has put my life on hold since the end of January. It is supposed to happen by the end of this month. All my tests were finished on Monday and it is now Thursday…. no date yet.
To take my mind off this I go for long walks in the neighbouring park, Angrignon Park. It is literally 100 steps from my door. Now, mid May is the time for migratory birds to return here and this large park, with plenty of running and still water is a great stop for many of them.

was flirting with me for some time and I really hoped she might take the seeds I was offering her. Nope!

That’s what a real-life birdwatcher told me but I wonder if it might have been a Baltimore Oreole. These days these brilliant flashes of color are keeping company with the red- winged blackbirds. Those have the most piercing cry and certainly make their presence felt.

was this heron from a couple of days ago. A couple of Canada geese came along and he was outta there!
Besides the birds there are beautiful tiny “ sights” if you pay attention.

And another bit of “ wildlife”

All this to say, my time out here is keeping me semi-sane. I can’t seem to settle on anything like the writing I should be doing as long as I am indoors. So… I spend more time walking.
That fits with what I am reading these days.

I discovered this author when I was a young girl ( yes, the printing press had been invented by then). He wrote “ Cider with Rosie” a wonderful coming-of-age book so when I found this, I pounced. The way he describes walking as a young man – effortlessly, swallowing up the trail, was really inspirational today when I got a bit “ laggy” on my second time round the Park. Thank goodness it didn’t rain as forecast! Friday tomorrow, who knows, maybe I’ll have the long- awaited date then! Enjoy spring!
