I Hate Squirrels

Would any normal creature

do this in the middle of the longest cold snap in memory? I have never liked these rats with attitude and their attack on the upholstered arm on one of my balcony chairs à couple of weeks ago had me shaking pepper all over the place. Normally I love animals… dogs, cats, fish, birds, men ( oops, sorry!) but anything rodent-like is not for me. Beavers and maybe muskrats make the cut but squirrels are the bane of my life.

Feeling a little crotchety, Isobel? Yes! On Friday as I gasped my way to the bus stop I vowed not to spend another January in this frozen hell. To add insult to injury, my daughter on Vancouver Island just sent me these pictures taken in her yard. Yes! Blooming flowers and shoots of daffodils and tulips!

Of course, rather than squirrels, she is plagued with deer but a high fence has kept them out recently. Ah well, the grass is always greener…..and squirrel – free!
