Writing under a Montreal sky

Joy in the Park

Today is the Muslim feast of Eid al Adha. I took my usual walk in Angrignon Park and was happy to see lots of families out with their bar- b-ques enjoying a picnic.

I was so impressed with the beautiful dress of this young lady that I wished her Eid Mubarak and asked if I could take her picture. It is so beautiful to see people celebrating their traditions.

It was quite a coincidence that only the day before I had been leading a tour for teenage visitors from Toronto. Once of the paintings we looked at was exactly the representation of the narrowly averted sacrifice of Isaac by the patriarch Abraham. The French artist Valentin portrays a wonderful grubby angel with black wings restraining the patriarch. This is today’s holiday.

One of my favorite angels

As the year unfolds it is wonderful to see nature and culture celebrating together.

Best wishes to everyone celebrating today.
