I almost always take my park walk in the early morning, especially in summer. Last week we suffered through a heat and humidity wave and I got busy with museum tours so when I noticed that my step numbers were down ( yes. I’m one of those nerds who counts ) I decided to walk in the evening. These pictures were taken around 8 pm.

I had a flash fiction piece published a couple of years ago about this tree and another close by. I always express my thanks to these giants when I walk by.

The atmosphere was different, quieter. Birds were singing their evening song before settling down in their nests. There were no kids running or biking on the tracks.

As I turned for home I reflected too on how lucky I am to live so close to a place where peace settles down at evening
