Writing under a Montreal sky

Not all angels wear wings

The Madrid bus station is a huge labyrinth. I knew what my bus-bay looked like but there was no person or sign to tell me which way it was. Fortunately I arrived verrry early( having slept very little for fear of just such a problem.) Finally I grabbed a security guard who was passing and the kind man literally led me through escalators, food courts and other “ islands” of bus bays to the spot where I had to wait. Whew, how great to get on the bus and speed out of the city!

From the bus.. flowering bushes and “ the bull”

When we got to Astorgas I knew we were close!

The famous cathedral

Last time I was here I stormed off in a huff without going inside after a bit of an argument with a Spanish/Torontonian. He tried to persuade me that the Spanish had brought civilization to Latin America!ah well, that was a long time ago!

The famous castle of the Templars

I walked from to bus station in Ponferrada to my Alberge just to stretches my legs and my joy was dashed when I heard the piercing tones of Anna… a very bossy Italian who sort of supervises a group of albergues . She greeed me very warmly and hugged even though we survived last time by ignoring each other. After a little visit to the chapel I decided to be a bit more charitable. It helps that she is leaving tomorrow!
