Writing under a Montreal sky

Seedlings of love lies bleeding

I plant these seeds more for the wonderful evocative name than for the actual bloom. They’ve only been in the window box a few days and there they are emerging bravely from the dark earth. Even the stems are red and the long clusters of showy red tassels are loved by birds as a treat. I hope they’re not loved by squirrels! My mortal enemies!

Hollyhock?

I’ll find out sooner rather than later I hope. I forget what I put where! I know I have some sweet pea seeds started here and there.

I was away for all of April, and May has been a bit of a jumble of Pascha, a tremendous sort of head cold, congestion thing that is finally abating thanks to the advice of a terrifyingly young doctor in walk-in clinic at St. Mary’s. “Nasal rinse….many times a day! As many as you can manage!” My kitchen became the witch’s cavern as I boiled pots of water for my “ therapy”

The result was that I didn’t get much done in the sprucing up of the flower pots. Let’s see how things come along. I had a hard time getting back into routine after my long absence in Greece and Spain. (I know, poor me) I must trust to nature now .

It is wonderful that the joy of something as simple as putting some seeds in a pot and watching what happens is possible! I too am putting some herbs in today in Labelle…after that leaving until July, so we’ll see what happens!
