Writing under a Montreal sky

The poles are adding up

There are already over 50 pilgrims in the albergue and it is only 4 o’clock. My worst nightmare will be turning someone away.

One of my colleagues is an early bird and she goes off to bed quite early. The kitchen as jumping lady night and I admit to being a bit grumpy when people wanted to go on drinking wine and chatting in a dining room with a terrazzo floor. It has tremendous resonance and I resorted to taking out my hearing aids. That made for some rather surreal conversations with a troubadour who wanted me to confirm the words of a Greek song.

An elder bush coming into flower

I try to be zen and enjoy what I can understand of what is going on….

Booked for my getaway next week -to Avila and then home!

What a trio you have had but I think you may be glad to get home for some peace and quiet. Not sure how you manage being around so many people most of the time but that is the nature of the job. Madrid is cool and booming and we have just come back from seeing the Cathedral in Toledo. What a lovely town and thankfully not too crowded with tourists except for the Japanese who are here in droves, charging around as their guide leads them at breakneck speed so they don’t miss anything to see the next object or painting of interest. I am not sure how much they are actually taking in as they don’t have time to draw breath. Then there are the school kids who seem to have a great time just goofing around. Tomorrow we are off to the Prado again. We just spent 5 hrs there yesterday. My legs are dying but I keep going knowing I only have 3 days left. The Andalusian coast was gorgeous as you said it would be. Going to have a shower and maybe rest my poor aching bones before heading off for something to eat that is not ice cream. Bon voyage if I don’t speak to you before, love MP
