Writing under a Montreal sky

Looking across to the mainland

On a clear and breezy day what could be more beautiful than a walk down by the stony beach?

One hardly meets a soul. Occasionally someone is out walking a dog but this is not the sort of beach where kids build sandcastles. There is a path that leads between the sea and the open fields.

With my back to the water

There a couple of seats strategically placed where one can sit for a rest. Geese are already gathering at low tide. Soon they will leave for the south. A few hardy fishermen wade out into waist deep water to cast lines. The Oyster River that flows into the sea here is low but not as disastrous as last year. Soon the salmon will start their run upstream. I hope to see the start of that before I go home next week.

I have not posted as much as I might have. I have been busy enjoying my stay at my daughter‘s house. She has many projects planned for her house and yard. It is a great joy to see her settled in a beautiful environment. Imagine having this as your “ everyday walk”!

The Greeks say it is a curse to know two homelands. I know what they mean.
