Writing under a Montreal sky

This is not the wilderness no matter what it looks like from certain angles

High and cool

There were lots of walkers up here yesterday. Well, it was Sunday. Part of the trail is “ natural” in that there are tons of roots and plenty of uneven terrain that made me glad of my hiking poles. There is quite a bit of boardwalk. I’m not a fan of boardwalk because my poles tend to get stuck in the cracks between the boards and every so often, so do the toes of my trail runners.

Lots of lovely streams

It’s encouraging to see them. What’s less happy is the sight of ponds that are all but dried up. Rain is promised for tomorrow (70%) we’ll see.

Jays hand feeding

Who knew they like blueberries. Logical I suppose! These are a species of jays, like the blue ones and are related to crows. I think there was a suggestion that they be named national bird of Canada at one point. They were all banded which drove home how “managed” the environment was. Still very beautiful.

There were interesting wild flowers including autumn crocus

We only did about 15 k steps but were both pretty tired at the end of the day. This sort of walk is not like walking around the track or the training hill in my neighborhood park.

There was snow here last month!

Gorgeous pictures. Hat’s a grey jay particular to the west while we have blue jays her, more beautiful but certainly not as tame which is probably a good thing. I think you are having a dry summer out there while our summer has been very wet with rain again today. Have fun and a nice relax, dear Iso. Talk to you later

I’m forwarding your photos to my daughter and son-in-law. The former is a volunteer at Hudson’s Le Nichoir (a birdy person) and the latter is a good amateur photographer of nature views.

Yes, I hope BC does get the rain. Here we continue to get downpours every second day much to the detriment of my sun- and- dry loving geraniums although we had two super glorious days on the weekend.

    When do you come back???

    Xoxo.
