Writing under a Montreal sky

This tree was felled long ago but other roots have sprung from her.

I feel a bit like this these days. Not that I’m felled, exactly but, let’s face it, I’m no sapling! This old tree put forth other life though and one young tree did well.

Moss and lichen in the shade

I have a favorite walk along the shore here on Vancouver Island. A lot of it is calm salt water of the Strait, bleached logs that make a long natural fence and the soft sandy trail carpeted with pine needles. But there are a few shady spots and there the damp air lets different life flourish.

Rest spot

A little shade is good for walkers too! This is my turn around spot. Tonight we will go to the top of Mount Washington to see the Sturgeon Moon … if I can screw up my courage to get on a chair lift!

I must ask my mother tree, Betty

to give me the guts to do that!
