Writing under a Montreal sky

In Angrignon Park

It has been an enchanted couple of weeks. Everyone says the colors of the autumn leaves this year are extraordinary. We have had little rain and little wind. The trees responded to the gradually shortening days and blazed forth under blue skies.

Lengthening shadows

It seemed as though fall would last forever. We enjoyed a spectacular hunters’ moon. Some of us even caught sight of the comet.

Yesterday

It was 22 degrees this morning when I went out but something had changed. I had no jacket and on my feet I was wearing sandals!

Fallen glory

It was windy and golden leaves pelted down, thick and fast. Already the black branches and twigs of many trees were more visible. Instead of the clear blue dome of the sky, sheets of grey clouds broken, here and there with light gaps, pearly cushions, feathery flights. The sky was chaotic, as were the rustling, flying drifts of leaves. over, until next year. Golden leaves hurry past my window. I bring in the geranium. It will be cold tonight.

Fall: a season where the end of something comes with incredible beauty. And each step so beautiful ending with a magical multi coloured carpet that whispers in response to footsteps walking by.
