Writing under a Montreal sky

Across the Straight

of Georgia to the mainland. it’s unusually hot here and walking along the shore affords little shade. Still, it’s wonderful to be away from a big city and close to the sea and to walk along a stony beach. The few people I met all greeted me. The trees are lush and songbirds are everywhere.

The famous fence

was installed last week. My daughter almost had a meltdown. She is a perfectionist. They were not. At least when the gate finally arrives her flowers will be safe from deer. A couple of evenings ago two full-grown does waltzed in and started nibbling anything not behind chicken wire. When Liz went out to shoo them away they panicked and forgot how to leave. When Liz realized how big they were she wisely retreated inside. They finally figured it out and I guess that they didn’t attempt a jump is proof the fence is high enough.

Roof of the shed

looks like a cabin in the Alps and we figured that this

is red elderberry
Betty, the Pacific Maple

seems happy. …., so am I

So beautiful. As much as I love deer, I think we are very lucky to have so few in the Laurentians. Looks like a gorgeous day❤️
