Writing under a Montreal sky

A shy sun

Is it normal to long for snow that reflects light? This is the Pacific North West. As my daughter says, “It’s winter, Mum!” I’m not used to this sort of winter and it’s good that I’ve had a taste of it.

I walked a very long way today partly because I stayed in for a couple of days of pouring rain this week.

The gate over a neighbour’s
house

This is pretty spectacular and some of the houses within walking distance are wonderful. Others are trailers sunk into the ground. Others are like my daughter’s are modest but beautiful. The designs are different, each one unique.

Rhododendron buds

These are hopeful signs though that much, much sooner than in Montreal, they will bloom. There were buds of magnolias too but I’ve seen those in Montreal.

Not your regular “keep off the grass “sign
Not your typical Pizza place deco

This has been a good trip, a great trip. I got a lot of writing done. I spent a lot of alone time. I navigated the city bus system without meticulous planning. It felt like “ real life”.

A Christmas reindeer

He looks very sinister to me. There was one of those tine “ free libraries” in that yard though and I got a brand new copy of a Joseph Boyden book so that was my reward for a 12 K walk on a gloomy day!
