A wonderful outing

“The potholes”

People come from around this area to spend time hanging out in a shallow river where large stones have carved out potholes over the years.

Jump in!

The water was fresh and cool on a day that reached 30 degrees. It was easy to lie on a partly submerged rock or dunk into a shoulder- high pothole as the river ran gently over overheated bodies.

It was quite a descent from the highway above but a handy stick steadied me. It’s a miracle nothing is commercialized here. There is no food stand, admission fee or charge to get in. You just park on the side of the highway and scramble down to the clear river. Perfect for a hot day!
